Marta, the Brazilian national team soccer superstar and five-time FIFA World Player of the Year — is officially heading to Orlando.
The biggest signing in Orlando Pride history was just announced after weeks of speculation and negotiation.
Marta, 31, was under contract with FC Rosengård in Sweden. She will join the Pride on a two-year contract with an option for a third, pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate. Additional contract details were not released, per league policy.
The Pride used their last international roster spot for her.
“We are incredibly proud to bring Marta to Orlando, and I am personally very excited as I have been a fan of her for many years,” Orlando City SC CEO Alex Leitão said.
