Goat videos, Brazilian flags and purple-clad soccer fans united Thursday night as part of #MartaWatch, the gathering — in real life and on social media — to welcome soccer superstar Marta Vieira da Silva to Orlando.
About 75 Orlando Pride fans, along with Orlando City Soccer Club staff members, waited at Orlando International Airport for the five-time FIFA World Player of the Year to arrive from Sweden.
Her flight, which left from Stockholm, Sweden and had a layover in Reykjavik, Iceland, landed at 9:16 p.m. and she walked out of the terminal to the welcoming committee about 30 minutes later.
