Designated for emergency use only Friday night, standout quarterback Timmy McClain helped Seminole High keep its football unbeaten season intact when he led a game-winning drive to upend visiting Port Orange Spruce Creek.
The senior four-year starter took the opening snap then spent all but the final minute of the game rooting on his teammates from the sideline during a 28-24 win.
“It was a family matter, something that happened between me and my brother, and my dad decided to keep me out of the game,” McClain said in a phone interview with the Sentinel on Sunday night.
