An unexpected matchup between Sanford Seminole and host Lake Minneola highlights the high school football slate Friday in Week 5 of the regular season.
The first meeting between the schools was a late addition to schedules that were reshuffled because of delays to the season due to COVID-19. Lake Minneola went 4-6 against Seminole County teams from 2015-18 when Hagerty, Lake Howell and Lyman were routinely on its schedule.
But this looks like a different version of the Hawks. Lake Minneola, ranked No. 9 in the Sentinel Super 16, turned heads last fall while making a run to the Class 6A region championship game.
