GAINESVILLE — UF athletic director Scott Stricklin and the rest of the SEC officially welcomed Texas and Oklahoma on Friday to join the nation’s top football conference.
The SEC announced the two Big 12 football powers would become members on July 1, 2025, bringing the number of member schools to 16.
A Friday vote by the board of regents at Texas and Oklahoma was a mere formality. But it finalized a dramatic turns of events that began last week when news surfaced during SEC Football Media Days that the Longhorns and Sooners planned to jump to the conference.
