The Sounders just keep finding their way to the MLS Cup. In 2019, they went a less dramatic route from past seasons. Rather than making a Herculean late-season effort to qualify for the playoffs, last year’s Sounders were consistent throughout the regular season on the way to their second MLS Cup triumph. From the looks of things, they’ll be one of the favorites to return from the Western Conference to the championship match. (Though whether that’ll be a continuing annual date with Toronto is unclear.)
Though they’re already fresh off one disappointment, being bounced from the Concacaf Champions League on Thursday, they’ll look to defend their title with most of their key players returning from last season, including Raul Ruidiaz, Nicolas Lodeiro, and Jordan Morris.
