NEW YORK — Sky Blue FC captain Sarah Killion agreed to a new contract which extending her five-season stay with the New Jersey-based club, it was announced Monday.
The midfielder was drafted by Sky Blue in 2015, and quickly established herself as a permanent fixture. She has since made over 100 league appearances, and played every minute of the 2019 season. Killion has been part of Sky Blue’s public transformation from a club in crisis to one on the rise, though the player almost opted not to stay and see that transformation.
In the previous offseason, Killion contemplated leaving Sky Blue, though eventually signed a new deal after receiving assurances the club would improve living and working conditions for players.
