The Miami Dolphins leading running back from the 2020 season was drafted in the seventh round the previous year.
And Myles Gaskin’s backup was Salvon Ahmed, an undrafted rookie the Dolphins claimed from the waiver wire, and promoted up from the practice squad last year.
Gaskin and Ahmed’s status on Miami’s 2020 depth chart is proof that anything is possible for Gerrid Doaks if this former Cincinnati standout the Dolphins selected in the seventh round with the 244th pick learns the playbook quickly, and has a solid training camp and preseason showing.
That is exactly how Gaskin, who contributed 972 total yards and scored five touchdowns in the 10 games he played last season, leapfrogged veterans Jordan Howard, Matt Breida and Kalen Ballage on Miami’s depth chart last year before cementing himself into the starting spot.
