Golfer Annika Sorenstam’s return to the LPGA Tour after a 13-year absence is more a matter of convenience than a comeback for the 50-year-old Hall of Famer.
The native of Sweden moved to Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in 2000 during the heart of her career. Eight years later, Sorenstam suddenly, stunningly retired following her 71st and 72nd wins on Tour in order to shift priorities from golf to family.
“If it wasn’t for Lake Nona, I wouldn’t be playing here,” Sorenstam said Wednesday. “This is, not a comeback. It’s an appearance.
Sorsentam played with her father during December’s PNC Championship and was in the celebrity division at the LPGA Tournament of Champions last month in Orlando.
