The National Women’s Soccer League’s Washington state based club will now be called OL Reign after a year of going by Reign FC.
The name change reflects new ownership, as France’s OL Groupe completed its takeover of the club in December.
The new logo features a lion, which is also in the logo of OL Groupe’s most well-known club, Olympique Lyonnais, and is also part of the coat of arms of the French city of Lyon, where OL Groupe is based.
The colors blue, red, and gold are also used by Olympique Lyonnais and appear in Lyon’s coat of arms.
