Yes, Manaea’s old high school pal and teammate delivered the double leading off the eighth inning for Tampa Bay to break up the lefty’s quest for a second career no-hitter before Oakland’s Seth Brown an inning later hit a game-ending homer as the Athletics beat the Rays 2-1 on Friday night.
“It was definitely something there, a little smirk, a little back and forth,” Brosseau said. “I would hope to think if there was a guy to break it up he would want it to be me.
