The NWSL Disciplinary Committee issued a one-game suspension to Racing Louisville forward Jorian Baucom for a tackle on defender Ali Riley during the teams’ season opening match Saturday.
The incident occurred in the 83rd minute when Riley ran to close out Baucom in the Pride’s defensive third. As Riley successfully cleared the ball with her left foot, Baucom’s cleat came down on the Pride defender’s leg. Her studs made contact with Riley’s knee before dropping to land on her foot.
Baucom was issued a yellow card during the game, while Riley and captain Ashlyn Harris appealed to the referee for a stricter punishment.
