United States women’s national team stars Margaret Purce and Megan Rapinoe joined President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden at the White House to speak on pay inequity Wednesday.
The event was part of a day-long series of events focused on Equal Pay Day, a holiday focused on closing the wage gap that affects people marginalized by gender.
Purce and Rapinoe both shared their experiences as national team players during a two-year lawsuit over pay inequity with the U.S. Soccer federation. The remainder of their U.S. women’s national teammates joined them on Zoom to watch the event from their home markets.
