Getting ready to play in a new stadium built specifically for the men’s and women’s professional soccer teams in Orlando is exciting for all players, but especially for Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, who was born 45 minutes down the highway in Cocoa Beach.
“It’s a pretty surreal feeling,” said Harris, who will wear the captain’s arm band when the Pride take on the Washington Spirit in their National Women's Soccer League home opener at 4 p.m. Saturday.
“It is an honor, and growing up here and this being my home, it's a little bit more special. I want to come out there Saturday and I want this team to be buzzing.
