Orlando City midfielder Pierre Da Silva has been suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount by MLS for “use of offensive language during a preseason, doubleheader, closed-door scrimmage on February 14.”
The training scrimmage was against the Philadelphia Union. The Union’s Fafa Picault was hit with the same punishment.
The league announced the suspensions Friday evening.
Orlando City opens its regular season on at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday against D.C. United.
“MLS, its clubs, players, fans and the MLS Players Association have a zero tolerance policy against offensive, discriminatory language at its games (including pre-season games and scrimmages), and are committed to creating an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity,” the league said in a news release.
