This was finally made a reality three years ago when Jones started up a wrestling program, making it so every school in the Metro Conference offered the sport.
The former Oak Ridge, Evans, and Ocoee wrestling coach will officially retire after 44 years of teaching on June 30, also bringing an end to a coaching career that began in 1969.
During his teaching career, Parmenter taught students of all ages, including preschool, middle school and a stint at a tech school. He moved to Central Florida in the 1990s and quickly build his roots.
The decision to hang up his lesson plans this year was also influenced by the coronavirus pandemic that had students learning from home for the final two months of the school year.
