Family friend Billy Bass remembers the giddiness in Jacklynn Stroz’s voice when they talked by phone Friday evening about her son Mikey’s scholarship opportunities and the recruiters who had already expressed interest in him.
Michael “Mikey” Stroz played lacrosse since fifth grade and earned a number of accolades, including offensive MVP, rookie of the year and leading scorer. Hehad three college interviews planned for the end of June but his dream school was John Hopkins University.
But hours after that conversation, the 16-year-old Timber Creek High School rising junior was killed early Saturday in an Alabama car crash involving a drunk driver.
