D.J. Scott ran for all three Oviedo touchdowns as the Lions gave their first-year head coach, Kolby Tackett, his first Hometown Showdown win against crosstown rival Hagerty by a 20-14 score on Friday night.
“I got told all week by everybody, ‘Hey, beat Hagerty,’” Tackett said after the game. “There wasn’t really an option. It means everything. It’s a great rivalry.”
Scott scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:27 to go in the third quarter on a six-yard run and that turned out to be the final score.
Scott opened the scoring with a 2-yard TD run with 2:45 remaining in the first quarter.
