Four of the area’s top girls soccer teams will compete for just two region tournament berths over the next two weeks.
The Class 7A District 4 tournament is cluttered with worthy postseason participants, led by an Oviedo team that reached the region final a year ago. The Lions have gotten steady production this season from returning all-area players Kyleigh Thelan and Raisa Lugo, who each have tallied seven goals and two assists.
Valentina Amaral, whose reputation is primarily as a goalkeeper, leads the team with 17 goals scored and 12 assists in 10 games. She is one of several experienced keepers playing in the field for the Lions.
