Osceola schools delay start of football, volleyball; set different schedule for other sports

Osceola County has postponed the start of its football and girls volleyball seasons to Sept. 7 and pulled those programs from the Florida High School Athletic Association state playoff system due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a post made Thursday morning on the school district’s website, both football and volleyball will proceed this fall as part of a yet-to-be determined “Central Florida Coalition” made up of other area school districts. That coalition is expected to include public schools in Orange County.

Osceola’s start for other fall teams – including boys and girls cross country, golf, swimming and bowling – have been postponed until Aug.
