While Orlando is hosting MLS and NBA teams restarting their seasons during the coronavirus pandemic, a group of Central Florida leaders will be taking the next steps in their push to host another marquee event — 2026 World Cup matches.
Orlando, which is among 17 U.S. cities vying to host matches, will have a delegation of nine people going through an online workshop Tuesday led by FIFA and representatives from the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Canada and Mexico held their workshops with FIFA earlier this year. Cities in all three countries won a united bid to host the 2026 World Cup matches.
