Orlando Pride forward Marta and defender Ali Krieger have been named to the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Best XI, it was announced today.
“This is a well-deserved recognition for both Marta and Ali,” Head Coach Tom Sermanni said. “Both players have been incredible leaders and catalysts for our team, both on and off the pitch, and I’m delighted they are receiving this honor for their tremendous week-in and week-out performances this season."
Marta joined Orlando in a blockbuster signing in March and immediately made an impact. The five-time FIFA World Player of the Year’s creativity and ability on the ball sparked the Pride attack, and she finished second in the league with 13 goals and six assists, both of which led the team.
