Remembering last week’s victory over the University of South Florida, Carol Rodrigues’ eyes widened.
“We were tied 1-1,” she recounted, each word coming out a bit faster than the previous one. “And I scored the last minute.”
USF was Rodrigues’ biggest rival over the last couple of years while she played for the University of Central Florida. This time, though, she dressed in purple, on trial for the Orlando Pride of the National Women’s Soccer League.
The Pride beat USF 2-1 in the March 25 preseason match, and Rodrigues’ goal was the game-winner in the 90th minute.
