Orlando Pride players are seeking answers and additional testing after 10 COVID-19 positive or inclusive cases among the team forced it to withdraw Monday from the NWSL Challenge Cup.
The team dropped out of the tournament two days before the Pride were set to leave for the tournament in Utah on Wednesday. The decision was made after six players and four staff members tested positive for COVID-19, an outbreak a league source told the Orlando Sentinel was the result some players going to a bar. The Pride declined to comment on the personal lives of players, while fans throughout the league have searched social media and blasted young players they believe derailed the team’s plans to play in the tournament.
