Alex Morgan is returning to the United States, clearing the path for her to compete with the Orlando Pride ahead of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Morgan has been on loan to Tottenham Hotspur, which announced Monday morning she would return to the U.S. in January after the conclusion of the first half of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League season.
While Pride leadership had hoped Morgan would return, she is a U.S. women’s national team allocated player and had the option to decide whether to play in Europe or the National Women’s Soccer League. Morgan said during recent interviews she was still weighing what would be best for her and her family during the coronavirus pandemic and ahead of the Olympics.
