As June draws to a close, the Orlando Pride are in an unfamiliar place — the top spot in the NWSL rankings.
The Pride seek to defend that position as they enter another three-game week, kicked off by a match against Gotham FC at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.
With 11 points from the first five regular season matches, the team currently sits two points ahead of Portland (9) in the rankings. But that thin margin could be quickly overtaken as teams throughout the league launch back into a packed week of action following the June international break.
