Being Orlando's first women's professional soccer team was exciting enough. Fans already were screaming and cheering before the game even began.
But they were in a frenzy by the end as the Orlando Pride (1-1-0, three points) won its historic home opener 3-1 against the Houston Dash (1-1-0, three points) Saturday night at the Citrus Bowl in front of a record-breaking crowd of 23,403 fans.
"It would have surprised me if we didn't break the record, if I'm honest," Orlando Pride coach Tom Sermanni said. "When you see the support around town for the club, it's just phenomenal.
