The Orlando Pride remain unbeaten under interim coach Becky Burleigh after clinching a 1-1 draw at home against the top-ranked Portland Thorns on Saturday night.
Despite a late-game equalizer that left the Pride without the three points for a win, the match highlighted the rapid redefinition of the team after Burleigh’s first three weeks on the job.
Three weeks ago, the Pride were rudderless. Former coach Marc Skinner left the team abruptly for a new job in England, leaving his players afloat in the middle of a six-game winless free fall.
But Burleigh’s arrival reignited a sharp energy within the Pride, returning the team to the energetic form of its unbeaten start to the season.
