Barely 24 hours after the club announced the resignation of coach Marc Skinner, the Orlando Pride struggled in a home loss to the OL Reign on Saturday.
All week, Pride players were asked to play through the uncertainty as Skinner stepped away from training, leaving assistant Carl Green to lead the team’s preparation for the Reign.
But Green offered only a temporary stopgap, coaching the team for Saturday’s match before departing for England to join Skinner at Manchester United.
Despite an energetic start, the 2-0 defeat ultimately reflected the Pride’s current state as the team searches for direction amid a five-game winless streak punctuated by the sudden loss of their coach.
