After earning the job in January 2019, Skinner has faced adversity with the Pride. The club finished his first season at the bottom of the National Women’s Soccer League table with a 4-16-4 record extensive player absences due to World Cup obligations. Sydney Leroux (pregnancy) and Toni Pressley (breast cancer) also were out most of the season.
Despite meager initial results, this year’s team was positioned to make strides in the league, buoyed by the return of Pressley and Leroux and offseason additions of Emily Sonnett, Ali Riley and Jade Moore.
Following the Pride’s withdrawal from the NWSL Challenge Cup due to COVID-19 test results, the team has turned its focus to preparing for the 2021 season.
