Orlando Pride captain Ashlyn Harris started the season with heroics that have become almost commonplace for fans.
During the Pride’s first win of the year on Wednesday, the keeper notched nine saves to secure a 1-0 result over Washington. Seven of those saves came during a hectic second half, when Harris also fended off a penalty kick to secure the team’s first shutout of the year.
The match reflected the ceaseless dependability of Harris, who has been more consistent for the Pride than any other player in the team’s history.
The keeper has served as captain since the Pride’s inaugural season in 2016, leading her team through seasons that ended in playoff runs and 16-loss records.
