BALTIMORE – The Orlando Pride capped an active offseason on Friday by adding three players in Friday's NWSL college draft.
The Pride selected Cal’s Samantha Witteman, a member of the U.S. under-23 national team, with its first-round pick and added midfielder-forward Christina Burkenroad from Cal State Fullerton with the No. 15 overall pick in the second round. Orlando used its final selection, No. 31 overall, to add Santa Clara midfielder Dani Weatherholt.
Orlando had to wait until the final pick of the first round for its first selection, No. 10 overall, and it pounced on Witteman, who gives the Pride another option both in the midfield and on the back line.
