Two of the most storied rivalries in Central Florida football are adding another playoff chapter to their series histories on Friday night.
Undefeated Seminole (7-0) is playing at DeLand (4-2) in a Class 8A, Region 1 matchup that extends a rivalry that dates back to 1921 – or further. Their scheduled regular season game in September was canceled after a Bulldogs assistant coach tested positive for COVID-19.
Seminole leads the series 53-28-4 in games played since 1921, but there is some evidence suggesting the schools might have played even earlier.
The Seminoles are 2-0 vs. the Bulldogs in playoff games, with a win in their 2008 state championship season and another in 2012.
