Orlando City star Daryl Dike powered three of five goals for the U.S. men’s national team on Thursday night, helping the Americans to climb more firmly in Group B of the Concacaf Gold Cup opening stage with a 6-1 win over Martinique.
Each goal reflected a different strength in the striker’s ever-growing skillset — a run for a leaping header in the 14th minute, launching airborne to head in a shot rebounding off the crossbar in the 23rd minute, a balletic chip over the keeper in the 59th minute.
The second goal was ultimately smudged off Dike’s ledger, ruled an own-goal after nearly a full half of the match was spent in deliberation.
