Orlando City midfielder Andrés Perea made a final, one-time affiliation switch this week, committing himself to the U.S. men’s national team for the remainder of his international career.
Perea is a dual national who previously split call-ups between Colombia and the United States. He was born in Tampa, but he grew up in Colombia, where he competed for the Colombian national team in the 2017 U-17 World Cup and the 2019 U-20 World Cup.
The affiliation change now places Perea in position to compete for a spot on the U.S. team during the Tokyo Olympics, which is limited to players age 23 and younger.
