The red card that infuriated fans, was debated for days and sparked a social media coup has been overturned.
Major League Soccer’s independent panel unanimously rescinded the red card issued to right back Rafael Ramos in the 26th minute of Orlando City’s match against the Chicago Fire on Sunday night, a league source told the Orlando Sentinel. The decision came two days after Orlando City submitted an appeal to review the call.
As a result, Ramos will not be suspended for Orlando City’s next game.
The red card came after Ramos went for a 50/50 ball and collided with Fire forward David Accam.
