Orlando City tops Red Bulls, extends record unbeaten streak

The depleted Lions pushed past the New York Red Bulls for a 3-1 win at Exploria Stadium Saturday, extending their club record unbeaten streak to nine games.

Orlando City (8-2-5, 29 points) competed without four injured starters — defenders João Moutinho, Antonio Carlos and Ruan and striker Tesho Akindele. Sebas Méndez was also sidelined due to a one-game red card suspension.

When Mauricio Pereyra left the pitch at halftime with an apparent hamstring injury, the Lions held a 1-0 lead and turned to a a young group of players to close out the match. The average age dropped just below 26 when Benji Michel replaced Pereyra.
