Orlando City still waiting for chance to work with new striker Matheus Aiás

It’s been nearly two weeks since new Orlando City signee Matheus Aiás arrived in Florida, but the striker still hasn’t started training with the Lions.

Aiás received his visa and necessary paperwork, so he will be ready to train and eventually play as soon as he receives approval from the league. However, his medical clearance — which is handled through the Major League Soccer and includes new protocol due to the coronavirus pandemic — has taken longer than the Lions previously expected.

Orlando City signed Aiás on Aug. 21. Other teams throughout the league have been able to acquire and bring international players into the country on a faster timetable, including Inter Miami, which debuted Gonzalo Higuaín on Sunday within two weeks of signing with the team.
