Orlando City star Dom Dwyer entered MLS free agency Wednesday, marking his potential departure from Orlando after a collective five seasons with the club.
The trade came after a frustrating fourth MLS season with the Lions. The striker was sidelined with an injury for the two matches played before the pandemic shutdown. He came back only to suffer a season-ending knee injury during the MLS is Back tournament.
Dwyer played two matches total this season. Despite his lack of time on the pitch, the striker remained involved with the club through the end of the season, training with teammates in a limited capacity the past few months, mentoring young players, such as Daryl Dike, and consoling teammates, such as Chris Mueller, on the pitch after the conference semifinal loss.
