Orlando City star Alexandre Pato suffered a lower body injury in Saturday’s home opener against Atlanta United, a club official confirmed.
However, the forward will not undergo surgery as he begins recovery. The club couldn’t provide a timetable for his return when asked Monday.
Pato made his debut in Orlando on Saturday, starting the match against the team’s long-time rival and coming close to scoring a pair of second-half goals.
An otherwise promising introduction was cut short when he landed awkwardly during a play in the 80th minute. Pato’s knee appeared to buckle under him, and he crashed to the ground immediately in obvious pain.
