Roster movements continued Friday with Orlando City announcing it will retain Uruguayan centerback Jose Aja, signing him to a four-year contract.
Aja joined the club in July on a six-month loan from Racing Club de Montevideo in his native country. He brought physicality and strength to a floundering back line that will undergo an offseason makeover.
“We are excited to keep José in Orlando," newly-promoted general manager Niki Budalic said in a statement released by the club. "He proved to be a great player and strong asset for our team in a short period of time."
Aja, 23, made 10 appearances for Orlando City, earning a regular starting role by the end of the season.
