(3-1-0, 9 points) continued its home winning streak with a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls (2-3-1, 7 points) on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielder Servando Carrasco scored the Lions’ lone goal off a corner kick from Will Johnson in the 34th minute. Carrasco jockeyed for position alongside Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles, creating just enough space to get his head on the ball and direct it into the near post.
Carrasco plays as a defensive midfielder, rarely in position to score. It was his second career goal, the first coming in 2013 when he played for the Seattle Sounders.
