Orlando City re-signed defender Kyle Smith to a two-year contract with an option for a third year ahead of the 2021 season.
Smith has become a versatile depth player at both outside back positions. On the current roster, he is likely to assume the starting left back position until defender João Moutinho is fully recovered from hip surgery.
The defender took a winding path to his consistent place on the Lions roster. After graduating from Transylvania University as the school’s all-time leader in goals, assists, and points, he worked as an accountant before trying out for Louisville City in the USL Championship.
