Orlando City, Pride players, coaches excited for new ownership group

Orlando City and Pride players and coaches voiced optimism about a potential change in the club’s ownership this summer.

Owner Flávio Augusto da Silva sold the club to the Wilf family, who own the Minnesota Vikings, on Wednesday. The news was met with enthusiasm by Orlando City players, who feel the Wilfs will help the Lions continue to expand upon the success of last season.

“I’m excited about it,” defender Kyle Smith said. “This new chapter I’m sure will be another good one. The old ownership was great, and I’m very thankful for Flávio. But I’m just excited because change is always exciting.
