Orlando City keeper Mason Stajduhar waited over five years for Friday night’s home match against Atlanta United.
The homegrown product signed with the Lions in 2015. Since then, Stajduhar’s role on the team has been a practice in patience as he put in his time as third-string keeper.
On the pitch, Stajduhar earned minutes and recognition on the Orlando City B roster and during loan spells to Louisville City and the Tulsa Roughnecks.
But he endured the most off the pitch after being diagnosed in November 2017 with Ewing’s sarcoma, a form of bone cancer. Stajduhar continued training through chemotherapy, eventually celebrating his final treatment in June 2018.
