Orlando City sent forward Santiago Patiño out on loan to Cimarrones de Sonora, offering the young homegrown striker the opportunity to earn valuable minutes playing in Liga MX.
The loan was announced on the same day the Lions signed Matheus Aiás, a fellow 23-year-old striker who has played in Spain and England.
A product of Florida International University, Patiño was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 MLS draft. He notched two goals and an assist during 13 appearances in MLS regular season matches. A native of Colombia, Patiño was called up to national team camp last season while also recently receiving his American citizenship this year.
