The deal will include an option for Barnsley to buy Dike from the Lions. The current option is priced at $20 million for 80% of Dike’s rights, according to a league source.
If Barnsley were to buy Dike and then sell him to another club in the future, Orlando City would receive 20% of that future sale. If Barnsley goes through with the option to buy, it would be the most expensive sale in the history of Orlando City.
Dike made waves during his rookie season after netting eight goals in 17 appearances, earning MLS Player of the Month honors in August 2020.
