Orlando City has rewarded midfielder Darwin Cerén with a new contract after a standout 2015 season.
Cerén has agreed to a new four-year deal with a “significant” raise that gives the Salvadoran national team midfielder a salary commensurate with his level of play, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. The new contract also includes several bonus and milestone escalators.
Cerén made $66,000 in base pay last year, considered one of the better bargains in MLS, and was guaranteed $96,437.50. Orlando City made sure to reward the defensive midfielder, who was voted the Lions’ most valuable player in their inaugural MLS season.
