Sleeping with a blanket that’s too small can be frustrating; there’s just no way everything can be covered. That was Orlando City’s struggle during the Lions’ first game of the season, according to coach Jason Kreis. The Lions pulled out a win, but there were clear deficiencies in play.
But during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union, the blanket fit just right.
“I think some of it’s just time training together. I think some of it’s just time training with the ball,” Kreis said. “We spent so much of the preseason really focused on trying to be a good defensive group that I think sometimes soccer can be like sleeping in a bed with a blanket that’s too short, sometimes if you focus on keeping your feet covered, your head’s not covered.
