Orlando City forward Pedro Ribeiro will undergo back surgery Thursday and there is no timeline for his return to the team, coach Adrian Heath said Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Brazilian suffered a back injury in early April. He appeared to be moving back toward training last week, but doctors determined he had a disc problem that required surgery. Ribeiro is expected to miss at least a few months, but it's unclear whether he could be back to full strength by the end of the MLS regular season in October.
Ribeiro, typically used as a forward by the Lions, played in Orlando City's first three games.
